A FUN day at a Doncaster pub raised over £600 for a charity dedicated to helping injured soldiers.

Organisers of the event, held at the Acorn in Hatfield Lane, Armthorpe, will hand over £636 to the Care for Casualties appeal.

The total was boosted by the Armthorpe Animals Scooter Club getting on their Vespas and Lambrettas for an 11 mile charity ride.

Event treasurer Joanne Yorke, whose husband Ian serves in The Rifles regiment of the Army, praised organiser David Copeland and caterer Jill Clifton for their efforts.

She said: “It was a great day.”
