A Doncaster shopping centre is celebrating the start of the Christmas shopping period with thousands flocking through its doors.
Frenchgate Shopping Centre, Doncaster, held a Christmas extravaganza and festive trading got off to a great start.
The centre is expecting to welcome over 3 million shoppers during November and December as the big day nears.
Laurie Barton Wright said: “We were delighted to see so many of our customers at the centre last weekend. We held a number of festive activities including Santa’s Grotto, and it was a great family day out.
“Christmas is always a busy time for us and this year we’ve got the added benefit of new stores including Pandora, Timberland and the newly opened New Look shop.
“Not surprisingly, we were very busy last weekend and expect to see footfall increase even more over the coming weeks.
“We know that we will see queues to get into various stores and Pandora, the specialist jewellers, is proving extremely popular.
“It is always interesting to see what the hot trends are; last year was the year of the tablet, but fashion and jewellery are always popular around this time of year.
“We’ll be monitoring trends and keeping a close eye on items that are already starting to fly off the shelves.”
Visitors to the centre can also meet Father Christmas in his grotto, get their gifts wrapped for free on weekends and expect more festive fun and singing from local choirs in the run up to December 25.
