Free training offered for young motorbike and scooter riders in South Yorkshire

Free training sessions are being put on for young riders of low-powered motorcycles and scooters in South Yorkshire.

The South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership has organised the sessions to try to keep the young riders safe.

Riders will offered practical training and basic maintenance advice.

Motorcyclists represent less than one per cent of traffic on the roads but account for almost 20 of deaths and serious injuries, with young riders on lower powered machines making up nearly 50 per cent of the casualties.

The Partnership’s Safer Roads Education Manager, Joanne Werhle, said: “We encourage all powered two wheeler riders to consider further training to improve their riding technique.”

The first course will be run at the Lifewise Centre, Hellaby on Saturday, February 28.
