A Free Press backed fundraising campaign to help Doncaster’s St John’s Hospice has smashed through a major milestone by reaching £100.000.
Organisers and staff have issued a huge thank you for the cash which has been raised by you, our readers, throug a range of events.
We teamed up with health bosses for the St John’s Hospice Development Appeal.
The cash has been raised in many ways from charity events, spring fairs, raffles, fashion shows, sky-diving, walkers taking part in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge and much, much more.
Mel Hewitt, hospice community fundraiser, said: “It’s fantastic to have raised £100,000 and it is so heart-warming when you hear what people have done and the reason why they have chosen to donate to our appeal. I can’t thank the fund-raisers enough, thank you so, so much.”
The hospice is undergoing a £1.8 million transformation but there is a funding gap of £500,000.
The revamp will see the hospice, on Weston Road, Balby, completely renovated to provide a modern, welcoming, comforting and supportive environment for patients.
