COUNCIL bosses are hoping to use free parking as an incentive to bring more shoppers into Doncaster over the sales period this Christmas.
Officials at Doncaster Council say free festive parking will make life easier for motorists.
Parking will be free in all council-operated car parks and at on-street pay and display bays in Doncaster town centre during the Bank Holidays.
Charges at council-operated car parks and at on-street pay and display bays in Doncaster town centre finish at 6pm on Christmas Eve and start again at 8am on Thursday, December 27.
The charges finish at 6pm on New Year’s Eve before starting again at 8am on Wednesday, January 2.
The Mayor of Doncaster, Peter Davies, said: “We want people to enjoy everything Doncaster has to offer over Christmas and New Year and this free parking will help people to do that.”
The multi-storey car park in Mexborough will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
