ROTARIANS came to the rescue of Isle residents earlier this month when snowfall led to the cancellation of an event.
Sunday February 5 could have been a day of disappointment for the elderly residents of Epworth, had it not been for the spirit and determination of a small group of Rotarians.
An overnight fall of several inches of snow meant that the annual Rotary film show and tea party had to be cancelled.
A spokesman said: “Determined not to let enough sandwiches and cakes for eighty-nine party guests go to waste, the Rotarians delivered plates of food to over 40 homes around the Isle, both on foot and in 4x4 vehicles.
“Julie Ingelbrecht, whose home was used as headquarters, said that the recipients couldn’t believe it when their food arrived.”
