PUPILS from schools across Mexborough gathered in the town centre this week for a Christmas sing-a-long.

Scores of youngsters from the five primary schools were joined by students from the secondary school for the 30 minute carol signing session on Monday.

They entertained shoppers, belting out such festive favourites as ‘Oh Come All Ye Faithfull’ and ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’.

There was also a street collection for Hallam FM’s Cash for Kids Christmas Appeal.

Graham Rhodes, deputy headteacher at Mexborough Highwoods Primary School, said: “It is a great way of bringing all of the pupils in Mexborough together for a bit of festive cheer.

“They always enjoy it and look forward to it every year.

“We had a lot of shoppers stopping to listen which was great.”
