The heartbroken father of a boy left fighting for his life after a Sheffield city centre bus smash has urged residents to pray for his son.

Scott Ford, father of 17-year-old, named locally as Jake Ford, also issued a moving tribute to his son’s girlfriend Summer Lee Seymour, aged 15, who was killed in the crash.

Mr Ford posted on Facebook: “I never have a problem with words but tonight I am truly at a loss.

“The accident in Sheffield City Centre with the bus this evening was my son and his beautiful partner.

“I cannot describe the pain and hurt we are all suffering as we mourn the passing of a beautiful young lady at the start of her young life be safe on your journey beautiful angel RIP.

“My son is currently in intensive care with numerous injuries I am with him willing and praying, counting his heartbeats and checking every bleep.

“I would swap places in a heartbeat for you my first born. You are my world.

“It is going to be a very different future for a lot of people our love and prayers are with you all.

“Please pray for my son and please pray for the beautiful angel who has been taken too soon thank you Scott.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision that happened Just before 5pm yesterday (Friday December 11)

It is understood two pedestrians were involved in a collision with a bus in Haymarket in Sheffield city centre, at the junction with Castle Street.

Did you see the collision? It was a particularly busy time of day in the city centre and officers believe there could have been many witnesses.
