Fat camps for Doncaster children start this weekend

CHILDREN as young as four are set to join 'fat camps' in a bid to tackle the growing obesity problem in the borough.

Taster sessions for the free clubs start this weekend and anyone interested in finding out more about the programme is invited to attend a session.

They take place at on Saturday and Sunday at Trinity Academy in Church Balk, Thorne, or the Ian Wilson Community Sports Village in Bond Street, Rossington. The Thorne event is between 10am and noon while the Rossington session takes place between 2pm and 4pm.

A club for four to ten-year-olds will then run from Sunday, January 23, at Pheasant Bank Junior School in West End Lane, Rossington between 9:00 am and 12:30pm.

Sessions for 11 to 17-year-olds starts on the same day at Ian Wilson Community Sports Village between 1:30pm to 5:00pm.

A similar fitness programme for four to 17-year-olds will run from Saturday, January 22, at Trinity Academy from 1:30pm to 5:00pm

Carnegie Weight Management has teamed with NHS Doncaster for the camps.
