A FAMILY with only a trickle of water from their taps for the last four years have been left with no supply after their pipes froze.

Harpreet Rai of Finningley has been cut off from a mains water supply at her home since moving in to the former RAF base home and has had to rely on bottle water and the help of her neighbours to be able to do simple household tasks such as having a flushing toilet or being able to do a load of washing.

The family, with children aged 21, 11 and nine, is relying on a pipe attached to an outside line to be able to get regular water, but the sub-zero temperatures forced this to freeze.

Ms Rai said: “It takes us an hour to fill a bath and three to five hours to do a load of washing - we just have to rely on help from our neighbours.”

The house supply is linked to the airport, which the family wants to pay the estimated £15,000 connection cost.
