A memorial service for veterans of the 1982 Falklands War will be held in Doncaster later today.

Aeroventure at Lakeside will host the service this afternoon when a new memorial honouring those killed in the South Atlantic will be unveiled.

The museum has raised funds and built a memorial in remembrance of the veterans who lost their lives in the conflict with Argentina.

Aeroventre spokesman Tracy Fern said: “Every year we host a reunion for SAMA 82 and with their help we have now completed the memorial.”

The civic mayor of Doncaster Coun Pat Haith will be attending and the Mayor of Whitby will also be there, as Whitby is twinned with Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands.
