COURAGEOUS Abigail Cook has been given two early Christmas presents as she battles an incurable disease.

First, the brave seven-year-old has been invited to London to hear about clinical trials for treatment that could potentially prolong her life.

And a fundraising target to make Abigail’s wish to swim with dolpins come true has been smashed.

Young Abigail has Batten Disease - a genetic illness so rare that just 200 youngsters in the UK have it and which means she may not live past her 14th birthday.

But there is a ray of hope for Abigail, who suffers seizures and may lose her sight and mobility as the disease progresses, with news of clinical trials of a new treatment.
