Teething pooch Zeus bit a bit more than he could chew when he punctured a can of deodorant - and is thought to have made the windows of a house go woof.

The six month old saluki whippet perforated a can of Lynx, which leaked gas onto a sofa. The can exploded, shattering the double-glazed windows and set fire to the settee.

Occupiers Kerry Leech, 20 and her partner Mathew Heckler, said they were lucky not to have been in when their home in Frederick street, Goldthorpe, went bang on Saturday night.

Kerry, 20 insisted Zeus wasn’t in the dog house.

She said: “He’s just a pup and at the moment he’ll chew anything.”
