A SPONSORED swim is being organised by the Epworth and Isle of Axholme Rotary Club.
The event, in conjunction with Epworth Swimming Pool and South Axholme Sharks, will take place on Sunday, November 20.
Teams of four are invited to participate in the event with all proceeds to be split between Lindsey Lodge Hospice and the World Swim Against Malaria Foundation.
Each team will have 15 minutes to swim as many lengths as possible and there will be trophies awarded to the fastest team and individual plus those who raise the most sponsor money.
One of the organisers, Richard Vergette, wanted to thank the swimming pool committee for letting the pool be used free of charge.
“This is an incredibly generous gesture on a day when they could have easily rented it out for a profit,” he added.
“I know other Rotary Clubs who organise sponsored swims but who have to pay a substantial sum up front for pool hire.
The pool committee deserve the highest praise for this.
“Whilst it is expected that many of our fastest and best swimmers from Sharks will take part, it should be emphasised that this is a fun day aimed at raising as much money as possible for two exceptionally worthy causes.”
Visit the Rotary Club website at www.rotaryclubofepworth.org to fill in registration sheets.
These should then be handed into the swimming pool or posted to the address provided on the site.
The deadline for registration is Sunday, October 30.
