Andrew Dennis of Woodlands Organic Farm was among those trading at food fairs in Epworth earlier this year.

EPWORTH’S first Christmas Food Fair is to take place in the town’s historic Market place and will offer customers some great festive fayre.

The event will be the first festive fair organised by North Lincolnshire Council in the town.

It will follow on from the success of the spring, summer and autumn food fairs held in Epworth earlier this year and it is hoped by provide a major boost for the area’s economy by attracting visitors to Epworth.

Up to 30 stalls will be at the market which will take place on Saturday, December 1, between 9am and 3pm.

The stalls will sell quality, locally-produced foods from fresh and rare breed meats, gourmet fishcakes, preserves and home-baked cakes and pies.

There will also be door wreaths, handmade chocolates, ice-cream and maple syrup products on offer.

For the Christmas table, there will be a fine selection of fresh meats and the traders will be able to give the best advice on how to get the best out of your purchase.

Everything which will on be sale will have come from just a stone’s throw away and sold directly by the producer.

Cyndi Hurst who runs Hatty’s Tearooms in the Market Place said she was looking forward to the festive food fair being held in the town.

“The first fair did a lot to boost visitor numbers but the last couple I thought numbers had tailed off a little bit and so had the number of traders,” she said.

“But a festive food fair sounds like a good idea and hopefully lots of people will come.”

Street entertainer Nutty Norman will be providing entertainment in the Market Place as well as making balloon models and more.

Coun Redfern, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Epworth is a delightful little town with plenty to see and do during the countdown to Christmas.

“You can be sure to leave the Christmas Food Fair with all the trimmings you’ll need to celebrate the festive season, from home-baking to gourmet cheese and handmade chocolates to Christmas decorations.

“While visiting the town why not take time to visit the many independent shops and boutiques for those last minute Christmas gifts?”

There is free parking at the Church Street and Chapel Street car parks, as well as overflow car parking at Epworth Leisure Centre.
