A DEDICATED new visitor centre, linked to waste management, has been opened at Rotherham by a leading wheeled bin manufacturer.

The facility is designed to showcase how everyone can help to tackle the UK’s waste management issues.

MGB Plastics has invested in the new facility at its head office as part of its ongoing investment and commitment to tackling the country’s recycling rates.

The long-term aim is to use the centre as an educational resource, bringing together local councils, businesses and schools to highlight how they can play active roles in promoting issues around the handling of waste. Conor Sugrue, general manager at MGB Plastics, said: “Education is the key to making sure we understand the importance of recycling and the new visitor centre is an educational facility.

“Waste management can only work if everyone works together from councils to manufacturers like MGB Plastics, and households. Recycling is a concern for everybody.

“A good amount of time and money has been invested on this project to ensure that everyone understands the process of waste management and how it will affect everybody in the near future.

He continued: “This centre will enable visitors to get more information about the manufacturing process and show how businesses are taking the lead on sustainability. Getting everyone to participate is the best chance for recycling targets to be met.

“By making the centre available to schools and educational establishments we can get the younger generation to understand the importance of waste management as well”.

MGB Plastics’ new centre will house a display room of recycling products such as wheelie bins and kitchen caddies. Visitors can view the manufacturing process and quality testing for themselves.

Mr Sugrue added: “We want this facility to spark a debate among visitors about the importance of recycling and the environment.”

The visitor centre is open five days a week from 9am to 5pm. For more information visit http://www.mgbplastics.com.
