DO YOU know someone who’s wild about recycling, a whizz at cutting pollution or a winner when it comes to energy-saving?
If so, we want to hear all about them as the Doncaster Free Press stages its very first Environment Awards and gives people all over the borough a chance to share their green ideas and initiatives.
Environmental issues have come increasingly to the fore in recent years as concerns grow about the effects of climate change, global warming and harmful emissions. But there are things we can do to minimise the damage we cause and lots of Doncaster people are turning their attention to this serious issue and making strenuous efforts to do just that.
And now’s the time to make sure everyone gets to hear about it - but time is running out!
We want to know just how businesses, organisations, groups and individuals are making a contribution towards protecting the environment as they go about their daily lives.
It may be that someone is making a big effort to cut their carbon footprint at home or at work.
Our awards are open to everyone and there are ten categories to choose from:
* Primary School Award
* Senior School Award
* Business Award
* Community Award
* Design & Build Award
* Individual Award
* Innovation Award
* Lifetime Achievement Award
* Recycling Award
* Overall Winner
Entries can be submitted until the deadline of 12 noon on Thursday, May 19, 2011.
To enter the Doncaster Free Press Environment Awards, please complete the nomination form on page two of this week’s Free Press and send it, together with supporting information explaining why you made the nomination, to:
