The River Don looks set for a spring clean after the Environment Agency selected it as a pilot area to test out new ways of working.
From next month the Environment Agency will lead pilots in ten areas across England - including the Don - to test a new, more locally-driven way of engaging with all who have an interest in cleaning up the waterways.
Environment Minister Richard Benyon said: “There are many challenges facing our rivers and streams. We know we need to do more to clean them up, which is why we want to try a new way of doing things.
“That means seeing how a more local approach will work to significantly improve water quality, and how it could be rolled out across the country.”
