Developments that are planned for Crowle Market Place will eventually improve the town considerably, a meeting heard.

North Lincolnshire Coun Trevor Barker, who is also a member of Crowle Town Council, spoke out at the town council’s annual assembly meeting.

He said movement is taking place now on the £1m-plus development that it is hoped will transform the market town.

He told the meeting: “North Lincolnshire Council’s plans for the Market Place will be a significant improvement.”

His council colleague John Briggs agreed. Mr Briggs said the arrival of the Co-op would be a catalyst for transformation.

He said: “It will mean people staying in Crowle and spending more of their money here. The Market Place Development Group is doing some fine work,” he said.

He also told how North Lincolnshire Council has put an extra £3m into repairing roads throughout the county.

“It’s time we started to talk up this place. It’s a smashing place to live. We want it to be a smashing place to work as well,” said Coun Briggs.
