Schools plan consultation is underway

A NUMBER of schools in Doncaster look set to be transformed as part of an ongoing council review.

As a result of the review focusing on areas including surplus places, the development of academies, school performance and pupil attainment a number of specific school proposals are now underway.

School organisation proposals currently under consideration include plans for Hatfield Visual Arts College to close on August 31 and re-open as an academy on September 1.

The proposed closure of Cantley Sycamore Primary School on August 31, and the proposed merger of Hatfield Travis (C of E) Infant and Nursery School and Hatfield Manor (C of E) Junior School to create a three to 11 primary school from September 1 are also under consideration.

A public meeting is being held between 4.30pm and 6pm on Monday at Cantley Sycamore Primary School.

Parents, guardians, staff and governors will have their say before any final decisions are made as part of the consultation process.

Coun Andrea Milner, the council’s cabinet member for children said: “We welcome views and feedback from all interested parties, either through the individual response forms or at forthcoming public meetings.”
