A new short film about the Yorkshire leg of the Tour de France has been premiered at a Dearne primary school.
The film has been created by school children across Yorkshire to herald the arrival of Le Grand Depart in our region on July 5.
Youngsters, parents and project leaders gathered at St Thomas’ C of E Primary School in Kilnhurst to watch the two minute feature.
Schools were invited to submit a film about the race, or they could focus on topics including the history, route, jerseys, bikes and the rules of the event.
The six best entries were chosen by a judging panel of staff from cycling charity Sustrans, Welcome to Yorkshire and film-makers Rattle Media.
Head teacher Gill Ramsay said she was pleased St Thomas’ won the history category and added: “The children really enjoyed making the film, both during their classroom lessons with our Sustrans schools officer, Natalie Whelan, and when Rattle Media came to remake the film with us.”
