BUDDING bookworms have helped crown a children’s author with a national award.

Pupils from Armthorpe’s Tranmoor Primary School and Southfield School, Park Primary in Wheatley and Danum School Technology College enjoyed weeks of avidly reading and reviewing a collection of books.

They went to The Armthorpe School to discover the winner of the Kate Greenaway medal - named after popular 19th century artist known for her fine children’s illustrations and designs.

Grahame Baker-Smith was victorious with ‘FArTHER’.
