Pupils in their place

VIRTUALLY all children have received a place in one of their preferred secondary schools, says Doncaster Council.

According to the local authority 99.14 per cent of children have been offered a place at one of their three choices, with 96 per cent achieving a place at their first choice for September.

Out of nearly 3,000 applications just 25 did not receive one of their preferred schools. However, all have been offered a place at their local school. Those who have been refused places have been offered the right to an independent appeal.

Coun Andrea Milner, cabinet member for children, said: “I’m delighted that virtually all of our children will be starting secondary school in September at a school they want to go to.”
