Pupils turned into pirates for a week as part of a treasured school topic.
Tickhill Estfeld Primary School children shivered their timbers when Captain Jack Burwash burst into an assembly and told tales of his deep sea adventures.
The captain worked with each class who researched the origins of pirates, wrote adventure stories, made pirate recruitment posters and designed their version of ships and Jolly Roger flags.
Pirate pupils and school staff also dressed for the part with their home-made hats and skull and crossbones.
The school’s best dressed pupils, Matias Peraza-Mason, Faith Bartrum, Ross Dickinson and Grace Sellers, all won prizes. The week finished with a presentation from each ‘crew’ of their work.
