Students who are due to begin courses at the region’s new Humber UTC will meet for the first time this week.

The ‘Explore Humber UTC with a friend’ event is for all year 10 students who have accepted a place to start in September. they are invited to take a friend along for a morning of activities tomorrow (May 28).

Students will be registered at the Civic Centre at 9.30am, and then will move outside to Central Park. The morning will include:

Initiative exercises with the Royal Air Force

Science and Technology with the University of Hull

Humber UTC staff with team building activities

It is hoped the morning will help students get to know each other a little bit more so they are prepared and ready for the transition to the brand new school in September.

The event is expected to finish around 12 noon.

Sonia Allen, Humber UTC Project Manager, said: “The idea behind tomorrow’s event is to enable new students to get to know each other and to ensure that they are as prepared as they can be and know what to expect.

“They have had the chance to meet their new Principal Andrew Downing last week and this is just the next step really to ensuring they feel comfortable and at ease from day one.

“The event aims to be fun and informative. We have key Humber UTC partners there who will be getting students involved in various activities throughout the morning, to help with the transition to their new environment.”
