Doncaster College’s Hub campus was buzzing with excitement as the finals of the Enterprise competition took place.

Student teams competed over a number of weeks creating innovative products and services with the finalists put through their paces to be in with a chance of winning cash prizes kindly donated by Adrian and Vicky Welch, Partner of Adrian Welch Glass and Glazing and competition sponsors.

The money donated has been raised following a break in at their family home and the couple decided to use the funds to support something that would enable the young people of Doncaster to engage with a project that would equip them for employment by enhancing their creative, communication and team skills.

Finalists were required to pitch their ideas to the judges and an audience of staff, fellow students and guests and gave some outstanding presentations using interactive technology and prototypes of their products.

Meryl White, Doncaster College and University Centre Governor and Young Enterprise Trustee was Chair of the Judges Panel commented, “The range of innovative products shows that we have a budding generation of entrepreneurs in Doncaster, which we need to nurture in order to ensure a brighter future across the region.”

Five of the winning teams were put forward for the Young Enterprise Area Finals held at Ridgewood School scooping five out of the eight awards on the day.
