INTREPID students from Trinity Academy, Thorne, ended the school year by facing their fears and learning new skills on outdoor adventures.
They left the comfort of the classroom to sleep under canvas, hit the water in kayaks, abseil down cliffs and walk the fells.
Residential expeditions to the Peak District, Lake District and Yorkshire Dales were open to students across four year groups.
Students from Year 9 were the last to get a taste of the outdoors when they headed to the YMCA Centre at Lakeside, on Windermere.
Year 9 head Emma Chapman, who organised the Lakeland week, said: “Although the students are in the same year group there has been a real cross section here and many didn’t know each other before. Meeting challenges and overcoming fears together has been a great bonding experience.”
As well as the physical challenges, the students enjoyed songs around the campfire and toasting marshmallows.
