The Paper Birds are set perform at Cast next month, when drunken confessions from complete strangers will take centre stage.
When creating their most recent show – Thirsty – the multi award-winning theatre company The Paper Birds asked complete strangers to phone their hotline while drunk.
But far from people shying away from having their revelry recorded, the hotline was filled with messages from intoxicated individuals revealing their secrets from a boozed up night out.
Those recordings – filled with confessions and revealing drunken exploits – now form the basis of a hilarious, critically acclaimed show about binge drinking in booze Britain, which arrives at Cast on Wednesday, February 5.
The performance starts at 7.45pm, and will be followed by a post-show discussion.
Set in the ladies loos of a nightclub, ‘Juicy Jemma’ (Jemma McDonnell) and ‘Kinky Kylie’ leave their hen party to entertain the audience with stories.
Featured on BBC2’s Review Show, The Paper Birds (based in West Yorkshire) have devised a performance that weaves together live music, text and stunning physical theatre to explore stories of drunkenness from a female perspective. From bruised knees and uncontrollable laughter to urine stained beds and sore heads, it’s all in there.
Leaving behind the facts and figures, this is a look at the faces and voices of everyone who likes a drink and asks why, as a nation, are we so thirsty?
Tickets are priced at £12 / £10 concessions and can be booked on 01302 303 959 or at castindoncaster.com (a 50p per ticket booking fee applies, unless paying by cash).
