DONCASTER motorists may be affected by motorway roadworks which begin on Monday.

Work will be taking place to update electrical cabling along the M180 near Scunthorpe for seven weeks.

The £912,000 project will take place in the central reservation of the motorway for about a mile around the interchange at Junction 5 of the motorway at Wrawby Moors.

Highways Agency bosses have warned motorists that the work will need around-the-clock closure of the outside lane in each direction.

Traffic management along the eastbound carriageway - where the motorway joins the A180 - will be removed at peak hours to minimise inconvenience to drivers leaving the motorway.

A 50mph speed limit will be in place throughout and lighting will also be switched off during the work.

The project is expected to be completed by Sunday, December 18.
