Driver of car that smashed into Doncaster home speaks out

The driver of a car that ploughed into a Doncaster home before flipping over in the street says the incident was a "total accident"

Lewis, who did not want his full name including, was the driver of the blue Renault Clio that was involved in a collision with a lamppost and houses in Silver Street, Stainforth on Saturday.

He said: "I wasn't doing anything stupid, I'm a good driver, I've had my licence for a lot of years and have never had any issues or speeding fines or anything, my car just lost grip for no reason.

"It was a total accident."

The car is believed to have crashed into two homes and knocked over a lamppost before flipping over in the street at 12.30pm on Saturday.

Lewis said he was released by police without charge following the incident.

South Yorkshire Police have been contacted for comment.
