The driver of a car that ploughed into a Doncaster home before flipping over in the street says the incident was a "total accident"

Lewis, who did not want his full name including, was the driver of the blue Renault Clio that was involved in a collision with a lamppost and houses in Silver Street, Stainforth on Saturday.

He said: "I wasn't doing anything stupid, I'm a good driver, I've had my licence for a lot of years and have never had any issues or speeding fines or anything, my car just lost grip for no reason.

"It was a total accident."

The car is believed to have crashed into two homes and knocked over a lamppost before flipping over in the street at 12.30pm on Saturday.

South Yorkshire Police confirmed the driver was released without charge.
