A motorist had a miraculous escape after he car was destroyed in a motorway crash in South Yorkshire.

He was driving along the M18, between junctions 1 and 2 - the stretch between Bramley and the A1M - when his BMW 1 Series was involved in a collision with the rear of a lorry.
A metal box on the back of the lorry fell onto the road in the smash.

The driver escaped from his car with minor injuries.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "The driver was very, very lucky to walk away from this with minor cuts and bruises.

"I think he needs to put the lottery on."
