Barnsley Council has picked up two awards which recognise how it keeps staff safe at work.
The first award is for the council’s approach to the prevention of accidents and ill health, recognised in the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents’ Occupational Health and Safety Awards.
The President’s Award will be presented to council representatives at a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on Thursday, May 17.
Staff have also been recognised with the British Safety Council International Safety Award, which will also be presented to them in May.
Steve Pick, Acting Chief Executive of Barnsley Council, said: “Being acknowledged in this way by leading health and safety bodies represents a culmination of the hard work by our managers and staff that have produced a health and safety record of which we are enormously proud.”
