A group of students have entered into the world of politics – by taking part in the Doncaster Youth Council Election.
The bi-annual event involves pupils from the borough’s secondary schools voting for their preferred candidates, who then get to serve a two- year term of office.
The count took place on Monday at the Mansion House in Doncaster and the outright winners were announced later the same day.
The election was for Youth Parliament members Alisha Ahmed and Georgia Wren.
Schools were asked to promote the election themselves and pupils were shown a DVD made by youth councillors.
Eleven schools were involved, 5,000 students took part and 30 were successfully elected.
