A busy week for scouts from Balby in Doncaster culminates this weekend with a series of activities at the B&Q store off White Rose Way.
The 65th St John’s Balby, Doncaster, Scout Group have spent all week involved in Scout Community Week to promote their profile and raise funds.
The group will be in attendance at B&Q from 10am to 4pm today and tomorrow, with a stand displaying scouting material to present scouting activities and the modern scout movement.
They will also have an activities table where they will be making knot friendship bracelets, keyrings, and leather woggles and then selling them.
Group Scout Leader Darren Gosling said: “We will be doing a tree identification challenge to win a prize, selling cakes, demonstrating the cooking activity badge, and holding other mini activities for the public to interact with us.
“B&Q staff will be baking too and supporting us, and we will be running a scout and B&Q DIY table during the day as we build and sell our bird feeders and planters.”
The group will have a final badge award and certificate-giving tomorrow at 4pm for all as part of the ‘Earn’ element of the Scout Community event, and they are hoping Civic Mayor Eddie Dobbs will attend.
