A number of events to commemorate Remembrance Sunday take place at the weekend.

The town’s official commemoration begins at the War Memorial in Bennetthorpe at 10.45am, with a Service of Remembrance to include the Last Post and Reveille, Act of Homage and Wreath Laying Ceremony.

This will be followed by a parade to the Minster of St George led by South Milford Brass Band. A salute at the Mansion House will be attended by The Civic Mayor Councillor Eddie Dobbs, the Mayor of Doncaster, Ros Jones and senior military representatives at approximately 11.25am. Finally, there will be a Service of Remembrance at the Minster of St. George commencing 11.45am

Doncaster’s Civic Mayor, Coun Eddie Dobbs, said: “The event is an opportunity to honour the sacrifice of servicemen and women lost in conflicts from the two World Wars and others. It is also a time to acknowledge those who continue to lay down their lives for our freedom.”

In the Sainsbury’s store in Edenthorpe air cadets will be raising money for The Royal British Legion by bag packing on Saturday and Doncaster Armistice Day service takes place at the Mansion House on Monday 10.45am with a ceremony including the Last Post, Reveille and Act of Homage.
