Doncaster pop sensation Louis Tomlinson has thanked fans after his band scooped their fifth Brit award at this week’s glittering musical ceremony.
One Direction triumphed in the Best British Video category at the bash at London’s O2 Arena – and although Louis and the rest of his bandmates were unable to attend, the star took to Twitter to pass on his thanks.
He tweeted: “Thank youuuuuu to everybody who voted for us at The Brits :)”
Music mogul Simon Cowell accepted the award, explaining the band were currently on tour in Japan.
Their video for You & I beat off the likes of Calvin Harris, Charli XCX, Duke Dumont feat Jax Jones, Ed Sheeran, Mark Ronson feat Bruno Mars, Rita Ora, Route 94 feat Jess Glynne, Sam Smith and Sigma for the honour.
However, they missed out in the best band section with Royal Blood claiming the prize ahead of the boy band as well as alt-J, Clean Bandit and Coldplay.
The group have won four Brits previously – picking up Best British Single in 2012 for That’s What Makes You Beautiful and best video in 2014 for Best Song Ever as well as two Global Success prizes.
