World book day

Characters from children's literature came to life across Doncaster when schools celebrated World Book Day.

The event is a popular day in the calendar of many primary schools giving pupils to dress up as someone from their favourite book.

Classrooms were full of everyone from Harry Potters to Snow Whites, encouraging youngsters in their love of books and helping promote literacy.

Free Press photographers captured some of the fun in three schools, Bentley High Street Priamry School, Balby Waverly Primary School and Bawtry Mayflower Primary School.
