Woman crushed after falling out of Doncaster taxi

A YOUNG woman has been badly crushed under a car after she fell out of a moving taixi in Thorne, Doncaster, early yesterday.

The 18-year-old from Moorends was trapped under the Volkswagen Passat for about an hour after she fell through an open door of a hackney carriage as it negotaited a bend in King Street.

Police are appealing for independent witnesses to the incident which happened about 1.50am on Sunday.

The teenager was a passenger in a black taxi that was travelling from Thorne town centre to Moorends.

As the taxi slowed down on King Street on a left hand bend, just before the junction with Church Street, the woman appears to have fallen out of the vehicle through the sliding door on the driver’s side.

A black VW Passat travelling behind the taxi is then believed to have overtaken the vehicle, believing the driver to be stopping as he had slowed downm but she fell under the wheels of the VW.

The car had to be lifted to release the woman and she was taken to hospital with serious injuries including pelvic, back and neck fractures aswell as a head injury.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to please come forward.
