A Wath man gunned down on his doorstep in South Yorkshire in still recovering in hospital, police have revealed.
Tyrone Woodhead, aged 42, was left fighting for life after he was shot at his home in Doncaster Road, Wath-upon-Dearne, Rotherham, on September 20.
He has now regained consciousness – but a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Police said he is still not yet deemed well enough for detectives to interview him about his ordeal.
Mr Woodhead, a lorry driver, was given emergency first aid by a takeaway worker from the shop next door until paramedics arrived to take over, after the gun attack was reported.
Details of the possible reasons why Mr Woodhead, a married father-of-one, was shot have not been revealed by the force – but detectives say they are treating the gun attack not as random but ‘targeted’.
Nathan Wingfield, aged 22, of no fixed abode, has been charged with the attempted murder of Mr Woodhead and with aggravated burglary.
He has been remanded in custody pending a trial at Sheffield Crown Court. Anyone with information about the gun attack should call police on 101.
