Warning after spate of vehicle crime

Police tape

Police tape

residents are being reminded to secure their vehicles following a spate of thefts from cars in the borough.

Last Thursday there were nine reported thefts from vehicles - including five, which were allegedly from insecure vehicles.

Officers are advising that prevention is better than the cure and there are simple things you can do to minimise the chances of becoming a victim of car crime:

Don’t leave your items on show in your car, even items of clothing can attract thieves as they may think that there will be money in the pockets

Don’t leave valuables in the glove-box of your car. To prove this to would-be thieves you can empty your glove-box and leave it open when you leave your vehicle

Remember to lock your vehicle and park in a well-lit area.

If you require further crime prevention advice, please call police on 101.
