VIDEO and PICTURE GALLERY - Midnight walkers get medals

BIG-HEARTED walkers who stepped out to raise thousands for the Scan for Life appeal have received medals in a special ceremony.

The Midnight Walk held last month around Doncaster's Lakeside is set to raise more than 8,500 for the Free Press appeal to help buy a new state-of-the-art cancer scanner for DRI.

Minister for Yorkshire and local MP Rosie Winterton and chairman of Doncaster Council - who both completed the walk - handed out medals at the ceremony at the information and advice centre at St John's Hospice in Balby on Friday evening.

The appeal hopes to raise 600,000 for Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust to buy the scanner.
