Tony's work on show at Conisbrough Library
AN ABSTRACT artist has been exhibiting his paintings at Conisbrough Library.
Tony John Surtees, of Brook Road, has received good feedback from his range of abstract artwork – painted during his Doncaster college degree, where he is currently in his third year studying fine art and craft.
And the final year student is hoping to use his creative flair to help handicapped chi-ldren in the area to paint and enjoy art.
He said: "I've had good feedback from the library pieces and I've got a comments books for people to write in.
"I think any response is positive in art, and with my college course, I'm wanting to help out handicapped people to express themselves through art like I do.
"My inspiration comes from day-to-day life and my surroundings.
"The course helps you to be analytical, as well as be able to paint. It's hard work but very enjoyable.
"I'm working on my dissertation at the minute and I have a 10-month-old daughter, so everything's a bit hectic.
"It's a full-time course, but the opportunity fell to me after I had been doing life-drawings for four years, and I've always been creative so I took it up. I don't think you're ever too old to learn."
Tony's paintings were on show in Conisbrough Library, from November 1 to December 1.
