SLIDESHOW: Pupils potty about Potter!

Waiting for Video...

TOM Kitten and Mrs Tiggy-Winkle are just two of the characters to have transformed a Rawmarsh school classroom this term.

Peter Rabbits, Jemima Puddle-Ducks, Pigling Blands and Squirrel Nutkins were among the many furry and feathered folk from the pages of Beatrix Potter books to inspire year five classes.

Pupils based their own stories on their favourite characters, and were instructed to keep to the Potter style of writing. Then they visited the Rawmarsh City Learning Centre to make the animals to illustrate their stories from modelling clay.

They also used photo booths to create scenes involving their models, and photographed them.

Their finished works matched the Beatrix Potter style both in content and appearance, and along with the printed versions, their stories could be read and enjoyed as interactive books on the computer.

The project was a second major one for year five this term, children have also studied the Titanic.
