SLIDESHOW: Big night out for big switch-on
IT may have been bitterly cold, but Crowle folk piled on their hats, scarves and gloves to turn out in force for the town’s big switch-on.
IT may have been bitterly cold, but Crowle folk piled on their hats, scarves and gloves to turn out in force for the town’s big switch-on.
Four young poster competition winners from Crowle and St Norbert’s RC primary schools lit up the town and the Christmas tree, and were cheered on by a massive crowd as they counted down to their magical moment. Annelise Murphy, Owen Noble, Brandon McLurey and Angel Durkin did a great lighting-up job, said Dawn DaCosta of the Crowle and Ealand Town Council and lights committee.
She said: “It was a very crisp and cold evening but the turn-out was excellent and we had many favourable comments from people. The tree looked really good with its new lights and all the stallholders reported that they did well.”
Santa’s grotto attracted queues of youngsters, who were all rewarded with free gifts sponsored by the Crowle and Ealand Regeneration Group. Townsfolk are now invited to spruce up their homes and gardens for the Best Decorated House competition, to be judged in mid-December.
