Show will mark new lease of life for renovated pavilion

AN evening of live music and dancing has been organised to help mark the completion of an £80, 000 refurbishment at a community hub.

Thurlow Pavilion in Epworth has undergone a major upgrade in recent months, which has included new windows, doors, floors, central heating system, ceiling, kitchen and toilet facilities.

Funding for the scheme was made available from the charity which runs the hall, Epworth Town Council, WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental) and North Lincolnshire Council’s LEADER Programme.

Members of the public are now invited to attend a live show in March, the first since the work finished, to help celebrate the relaunch of the modernised pavilion.

Karen Tweed, Hanna James and Becky Price, who perform across the UK under the collective name of ‘Hell Said the Duchess’, will be presenting an evening of posh frocks, singing and clog dancing.

The trio will be performing music and airs from Ireland, France. Scandinavia and 18th century England.

Don Stewart, 71, chairman of Epworth Town Council, which gave £3000 towards the renovation, said: “I was at the opening of the pavilion more than 20 years ago and it is great that the work has now been completed.

“It is an excellent community asset for everyone in the Isle and I would like to see people attend the performance. It should be a good night.

“We are always happy to help groups who help themselves and make life better for their community. This has certainly been the case here.”

The evening takes place on Friday, March 22, from 8pm and tickets priced £7 are on sale now.

They are available from fashion shop Serendipity on Epworth High Street or by telephoning 01427 872491.

All profits made from the performance will benefit Epworth Thurlow Playing Field, a registered charity.
