Rise of burglaries in Doncaster villages
Police tape
OFFICERS are clamping down on burglaries following an increase in two villages.
Patrols on foot, bikes and in cars have taken place in Cantley and Bessacarr throughout this month to curb the issue problem.
Plain clothes operations are continuing with any suspicious people being stopped and vehicles searched.
The problems of burglaries were raised by residents at their community police-led Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meeting.
Officers reported that although burglaries were showing a decrease compared to last year’s figures, over the last few weeks there had been an increase.
Leaflets have been put through the doors of homes in hot-spot areas across the two areas containing information on crime prevention and tips on how to keep your possessions safe and out of the reach of burglars.
The area’s safer neighbourhood team also reported that crime was down by 16.3 per cent, property crime and anti-social behaviour has also fallen.
The issue and others raised by residents that officers pledged to tackle is likely to be discussed at the next PACT meeting on Tuesday, October 9, at Cantley Library in Goodison Boulevard, from 7pm.
