POLICE have launched an investigation following the sudden death of a pensioner in Westwoodside.

Officers were called after a concerned member of the public spotted the 83-year-old walking along Cove Road towards Idle Bank at around 5.55am yesterday.

When officers arrived the man was collapsed at the roadside. He had suffered head and facial injuries. He died a short time later.

A Humberside Police spokesman said: “At this time police have not established the cause of the man’s death, however it is not thought to be suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the man before officers arrived at the scene. They in particularly want to trace the driver of a silver car which may have been travelling in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call Humberside Police on 101 quoting log 52 of February 6, 2013.
