Fire Engine on call

FIREFIGHTERS were called to an overturned lorry with a cargo of chemicals late last night at Denaby.

Three engines sped to Denaby Lane at 11pm, fearing a spill of dangerous substances.

The load had remained intact however, and the driver escaped from his cab unhurt.

A fire spokeswoman said: “Engines from Dearne, Edlington and Maltby attended, and stayed at the scene until a recovery crew arrived. They left at 2.30am.”

The road was closed overnight but had re-opened again by early morning.
