One in four smoke
MORE than a quarter of people in Doncaster are smokers according to the latest statistics.
The latest figures for the number of people who smoke have revealed 26.3 per cent of people regularly partake in a cigarette, which is the highest in the South Yorkshire region.
However, this is a drop from almost one in three people who claimed they were a smoker in the previous 12 months.
The figures also showed that 31.4 per cent of people polled were ex-smokers.
Nationally the number of people who class themselves as smokers stands at just over 20 per cent of the population.
The Department of Health figures and covers the period from April 2010 to March 2011.
