SHEFFIELD’S Olympic champion Jessica Ennis says she wants to be good role model and inspire youngsters around the country to do something similar, writes Graham Walker.
In one of her first video interviews after winning the women’s heptathlon gold medal at London 2012 she says she feels ‘amazing’.

More than 16 million people watched Jessica Ennis triumph in the heptathlon on an amazing night for UK athletics.
Thousands of supporters roared as the 26-year-old heptathlete appeared at Hyde Park this afternoon amid a shower of red, white and blue streamers.
A chant of “Ennis, Ennis, Ennis” broke out in the crowd, who moments earlier had cheered Andy Murray on to gold in the tennis.
Asked by Absolute Radio host Johnny Vaughan if her triumph had sunk in, she said: “No, I’m still in shock. It’s been a whirlwind and I’m just blown away by how many people are here.
“I slept with my medal beside me.
“It was an amazing feeling to wake up this morning and know that it wasn’t a dream.”
Asked how she coped with the pressure she said it had been tough but she had been spurred on by the desire to win gold for the nation.
“It’s just been such a build up, seeing my picture everywhere and the pressure building,” she said.
“I did not want to let anyone down and I wanted to deliver that gold medal.”
She described being part of Great Britain’s biggest single gold medal haul in one day as “unbelievable” before going on to say Team GB had been buoyed by the support of the fans.
“We’re just doing so well. Everyone has raised their game, having this pressure and the support from you guys is incredible and it has made us raise our game and made us want more medals.”
Ennis said she had “tossed and turned” on Thursday night, ahead of the final day of the heptathlon.
“I just wanted to make sure I got every event right and I came away with the gold medal.”
When asked how she planned to celebrate she said she was going to enjoy watching the rest of the Games and “relax and celebrate by having a few glasses of wine”.
After her appearance, Ennis tweeted: “What an amazing reception at Hyde Park! The crowd was unbelievable!! Busy day but so much fun!”
